December DT Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Well who can believe it is only 8 more days to Christmas. It has come so quickly over the past couple of weeks. We are spending our Christmas with family and friends and are really looking forward to it. Before we go I thought I would post my two lo just completed this week for my December challenge from SCRAPPIES. The theme was summer loving. The bottom lo I have to point out (and some of you may remember seeing it) is a scraplift from a class that I did at Caught the Bug scrapbooking when they came up to Moura a few weeks ago. The second one is all mwah! Hope you and yuur families all have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Here's to a great year in 2009! Take care on the road and stay safe! TTFN Shirl

Kaiser Christmas Trees

Sketch 6 Challenge Beary Box

Hi Everyone

I hope you are all having a great start to the week. Can you believe it is less than three weeks to Christmas not to mention for us here in Queensland the last week of school. We finally have gotten out to the coast to do our Christmas shopping so can breathe a sigh of relief!! In less than two weeks we are off on a wee holiday ourselves to spend Christmas and maybe New Year with our family up north!

But in the meantime I thought you might like taking a look at my latest Beary Box LO. This one was inspired by yet another great sketch from Joey and show my DS Jordan and his Dad riding on the ferry when we were in Brisbane in September this year!

Thanks for looking everyone and enjoy the rest of the week!

Countdown Calendar!

Hi Everyone,

Well the last few days has seen me knee deep in kaiser calendars. The first one I tackled was our own personal countdown calendar for the house. This is what it looks like finished. I tried to keep it really simple. I didn't want anything too flashy. I also didn't like the two hanging number tags - I just felt that they were too big so I made up my own numbers from some kaiser pp's and made a special place on the front where I could change them using repositionable tabs. I also added plastic film to a section of the tree and to the backs of the numbers. Now I have to get back to my four other kaiser trees. I am making the xmas trees up as presents for my children's school teachers. I am up to number 4 with regards to painting and sticking on the pp's. Only thing left for tomorrow will be the ribbon, embellies and the final touches to them all and then I will take a stack of photo's and make a viedeo display to put on my blog. Thanks so much for stopping by. TTFN....

Losing Tom

I really like the layout that Joey from Beary Box gave us to work with last week so I ended up doing another lo (something that I don't tend to do very much!) I was trying to be good so I dug through my pp stash and found these pp's that I have had for soo sooo long and thought they were just perfect !! What do you girls think? Totally diferent from what I thought I would use but think the pic of our darling Tom stands out and blends in at the same time..... In memory of our beloved Thomas the Cat who disappeared whilst we were away on our trip to Brissy in Sept this year... where ever you are my fur baby I hope you are resting happily....!! Gone from our lives but never to be forgotten. Thanks for looking ladies......

Beary Box - Sketch #5

Hi Everyone

Well my DH has just informed me that we have been issued with an extreme temp warning for this week. At least 5 days of 37 degrees celcius or higher!!! Starting as early as tomorrow! OMG I am so not looking forward to this. Last time we had a couple of really hot days my air con wasn't working properly and the mechanic told me not to expect much more from it. It has been really good since but not that hot... now I am worried that it isn't going to cope and I am going to swelter.... Fingers crossed for me...

In the meantime here is my take on the 5th (yes it is so hard to believe that is has been 5 whole weeks already!) sketch challenge from beary box. The star of this layout is the gorgeous Sultan from Tiger Island at Dreamworld. I have like a 100 photo's from the show and he came up close to have a rest so I was in pussy cat heaven!

Thanks for looking everyone and have a great week !!

Tiger Island

Hi Everyone

Just finished off last night my double layout from Tiger Island at Dreamworld. I had lots of fun doing it and was really happy with the final outcome. I actually used 8 (yes EIGHT) photo's!! I haven't done this is sooo long.... As you can see the first page is very similiar to the challenge last week from Beary Box. I have so many tiger photo's to scrap yet... I really love my cats esp big cats and tigers.... Thanks for visiting my blog !!

Beary Box Challenge Sketch 4

Hi Everyone,

This is the layout I submitted for the above this week. It shows Douglas, Jordan and Nicayla posing with the impressive statues at the entrance of the tiger display at Australia Zoo. I wanted to do something a little different this time around. Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Log Ride

This lo has been inspired by two things the workshop I did yesterday at the lss in Bilo and from Esther's drive to use up some old stock/papers etc.... So the flowers on this come from some pp that I have had for so long I have no idea who the manufacturer is even. I have combined it with some new pp and am very happy with the end result. This is Douglas and Jordan in their log ready for the log ride at Dreamworld! It is such a lovely photo.... I am so happy the lo turned out so well! I had added glossy accents and a ton of kindy glitz to the flowers but sadly it hasn't come up too well in the photograph! Thanks for looking everyone and I hope you are all having a great week - getting lots of creative works of art completed!

Sketch 3 Challenge

Well even though I do not like this lo and am not happy with it at all I will continue to share with everyone.... I totally lost my mojo and was pressed for time but this happens to us all. Some people have told me it is lovely (I am sure they are just being polite) and others have said it is not my usual standard of work so I will let you all decide for yourselves. I am looking forward to a new challenge this week as my mojo is back with a vengenance. I was lucky enough to attend a workshop yesterday at a lss in Bilo. Unfortunately the lo we did is going to be published at some stage in the future so I have been asked not to post it anywhere on the net so to be polite and show respect I won't but I just gotta say why the hell did they do it as a workshop in the first place then.... oh no point in standing too long on my soapbox! Thanks for taking the time to stop by the blog girls. Can't wait to see the cards from Beary Box's DT team due out tomorrow! Tata for now...

Caught the Bug Layouts

Caught the Bug Layouts

Hi Everyone

Well I have had the best day! A local scrapbooking store based in Kingaroy (that is a 5 hour drive from here!!) came up to Moura to hold two workshops here today! I went and spent the day with three of the loveliest ladies you could hope to meet and I tell you talk about talented!! Here are the three layouts we did during the two workshops they held. A HUGE thank you Zennia, Tanya and Margaret for all the effort you put into making today happen and for the fun workshops! I must also mention the HUGE effort you put into bringing SO MUCH stock with you.. You had an excellent range of products. We all only hope it can be done again in the future! I will be there for sure....

It's The Weekend!

Hi Everyone

Well thank goodness it is Friday. It has been one helleva week here for all the Tait's but thankfully it is over now and we were able to finish it off down by the river having a farewell bbq for a friend who is moving on with a lovely bunch of locals! The kids all enjoyed a swim until it was almost too dark to be in the water and then we sat on the riverbank til nearly 10pm enjoying good company of friends, over indulging in food cooked for us by a professional chief and drinkies a plenty! Tomorrow we head over to Biloela for the morning and maybe down to the river again for another swim in the afternoon. It is certainly hot enough! Then on Sunday a treat for me hopefully! There is a scrapbooking store based in Kingaroy coming to town for the day and doing a couple of workshops. So I am looking forward to going along as much for the social aspect of it!! Jordan has his final full rehearsal for the school play so it will be a busy weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend. Take care and stay safe.

2009 Calendar

DT "OTP" Challenge for Scrappies

This is our first challenge for the month of November with the great Aussie site Scrappies Scrapbooking Supplies based in Tasmania! Create a 2009 calendar.... Well here is the calendar that I created. I am really happy with how it came together! Colourwise and lo wise! I was lucky enough to get some really great shots whilst we were on our trip south in Sept! TFL...

Hi Girls

This is the second page that I have created to go along with my first sketch challenge for Beary Box. I have just gotten home from the swimming pool. I promised my DD Nicayla that I would go down and watch her to her swimming lessons. She is doing really well and the school is having a swim carnival in a couple of weeks - yes camera moment for sure!! The weather here been horrid - yesterday it was 37.5 degrees C and really humid with noooo wind at all. Today has started out in a similiar fashion to yesterday cool morning with nice cool breeze so I am worried we are headed for another HOT day! To top it all off our air con is not working correctly and although we can get some cool air out of it we have to run all the ceiling fans concurrently and we are only just maintaining cool air it doesn't get cold. So we are waiting on the repairman - hopefully before the end of the week the agent told us so please all keep your fingers crossed for us!! Other than that I am hoping to get some scrapping done today.. new sketch from Joey due to arrive any moment so I can't wait to see this weeks challenge!! TTFN and thanks for visiting my blog!

Siblings - DT LO Scrappies

This is my second DT layout for the month of October for Scrappies. This month the theme was Family History. This is my DH's family. Six older brothers and one older sister... now that said can you guess which little honey is my DH now?? Thanks for looking everyone.. If you have the time be sure to check out the Scrappies website at http://www.scrappiessupplies.com/ TFL

Rodeo Time

Here are a few photo's from the first real RODEO that we took the kids to see. A real life country rodeo that is.... It was all very interesting for like the first 20 mins and after that they were all over the skate park with the other kids quicker than you could blink! I tell you too funny! TFL

Off to the Coast

Hi All

Have a dreaded Dr's appointment out on the coast today so not much will be happening here or on the home front. I still have my second DT LO to get done for Julz but so far I seem a little "stopped in my tracks!". I don't have quite the right background papers/CS so I think that is part of the problem - it just isn't all coming together how I am seeing it in my mind. I was hoping to get into one of the LSS at Rocky today but just didn't have enough time! Oh baa hum bug! Oh well I have to go again twice next week and maybe twice the week after so maybe I will get in them instead. I had taken nearly 150 photo's with me on my USB too but didn't get a chance to get them printed either.... Stay tuned and I will see what happens later tonight or maybe tomorrow..... Cheers Shirl

"Family History" DT LO

Hi everyone, Here is the lo that I have finally completed for Scrappies DT challenge for October. The theme was family history and as I don't really do heritage style lo's this was a bit a bit of a first for me! I think it turned out alright. What do you all think.... what could be improved or done differently? I was out of my comfort zone but enjoyed putting it all together. TFL

Design Team Time

Well my supplies from Scrappies are finally here (just in time too as I think I was starting to scare the postie!) and I have to work out what will be my first DT LO for the month of October for Scrappies. Our theme for this month is Family History so I am off to put my thinking cap on and see what becomes of the day and the LO. Check back in tomorrow to see the finished LO I hope! Have an amazing Sunday everyone and to all the loyal Bathurst followers out there I hope you enjoy your big day in (or out for a lucky few)!!

Posing Pretty

Nicayla again posing in the split tree trunk of a huge gum along side the river than runs through Denmark in southern Western Australia. Talk about future model in the making ... NO?? Now credit in part for this lo must go to Crestina Drew an amazing inspiration who is a DT member for a lss near me in Rockhampton, Qld called Scrappy Days. Crestina did a lo for them which was available as a kit. I didn't quite like the whole lo aspect but felt inspired by it and ordered all the embellies and this was my finished product. Quite different from Tina's as she herself would tell you but you can see the similarities and where the inspiration came from that is for sure. You rock Tina keep on inspiring us all pretty please!

Tingle Trees

This is Nicayla standing inside one of the enormous Tingle Trees in the Ancient Empire at the Valley of the Giants near Walpole in southern Western Australia. Truly amazing place if you ever get the chance to visit.

Down By The River

This is DH Ken with Jordie striking a pose between the split tree trunk of a huge gum along side a river running through the town of Denmark in southern Western Australia. Taken on our trip in January of this year... Thanks for looking girls.

Design Team LO - Scrappies

This was my first DT lo for Scrappies.. Theme for the month was "New Beginnings". This is of course my DH in some of his official work photo's for the Belvedere Coal Project.
