I'm Finally Back........

Hey Everyone

Sorry I have been such a stranger here on my blog. Finally done moving house just some unpacking to be done and we will be at home again. Almost found my craft desk today and as I type I should be putting up my shelves for my scrapbooking albums but having gone a whole week without the internet I am relaxing here for a while instead. I have so missed you all. Feeling all inspired to make cards and scrap since seeing some of my talented friends works of art so hoping to have something new up here sooner rather than later. I have a kit with assorted xmas goodies from a class that I couldn't attend to make up and share and then some cards too. But will keep this short and sweet and be back some to update you some more. Have a great weekend everyone and catch up real soon. xo S

Thanks so much to everyone for still checking in and I will try and keep everyone updated through FB ... miss you guys and seeing all your stunning work. Things should return to normal in the next two weeks.

Scrappies Cyber Crop 5

Hello Girls

Had a lovely evening last night with the girls from Scrappies at our 5th Cyber Crop night. I only managed to get two (2) layouts completed before the midnight deadline but I thought I would share them with you!

The DLO was a sketch challenge using a Becky Higgins sketch chosen by Julz and the other single lo was theme based. A lo using a photo of us pre baby days. In this photo is my bestie (& ex SIL) Margie when we were much thiner... you could say half the women we are today!! LMBO!! As I was having a mojo less night this lo was a scraplift from Kaiser DT member Christine Rumley.

Thanks for looking ladies and I hope you are all having a very scrappy weekend.

School Hols

Hey Everyone

Just thought I would pop in and let you all know I am still alive. Been a semi busy little week for the kids first week of school hols. After a busy weekend we had a lovely quiet day at home on Monday, Tuesday we went for a walk to the DVD store to hire some movies for the week, Wed was a really yucky day so we stayed indoors with the ac on and the kids watched some of their movies, Thursday we all got up early and the kids helped me with the hw by tidying their rooms and doing odd jobs, we almost got to lunchtime having finished all our chores to be greeted by a fast looming dust storm. We were one of the lucky ones but as we not only saw it coming but had time to get the clothes in and shut all the doors and windows and put the ac on. Ken said visibility on the roads was down to well under 200m when he came home at 1pm, later in the afternoon we took J & N to a kids fit class at the local gym whilst Ken & I did a work out! WOO HOO..... Thursday morning we spent cleaning up the huge rear verandah we had only just cleaned the day before so we could spend the afternoon/evening out there with our family who came over for a BBQ. Today we had another quieter day, followed by a kids fit class again for J & N and a work out at the gym for Ken & Shirl. Tonight for the first time in many weeks I made it out to Discover to their crop night to do some card making. Short night tonight as poor Robyn hasn't been well (GET BETTER real soon Robyn!!) but I did manage to get around 6 chrissy cards made. Will upload later. Ken has to work tomorrow morning and Sunday morning but depending on the second looming dust storm which they say may hit tomorrow we might head out to the beach tomorrow afternoon and make the most of the lovely weather! I will end this with a pic or two from the dust storm on Thursday and by wishing all my friends a lovely weekend! HAPPY SCRAPPIN!! Hugs xo S

Canon EOS 50D

Well girls as some of you would know by now from my many pics already on FB. We took the plunge on Saturday (yes our insurance money finally arrived) and got our new camera. We um'd and argh'd heaps and decided on the Canon EOS 50D with the 18mm-200mm IS premium lens. Just wanted to share a few of my fave pics so far........ Thanks for stopping by girls. xo S

Discover Blog Sketch Challenge

Hey Everyone

Well hope for all my Queensland friends out there you are enjoying the first official day of the Sept School holidays. It is a bit warm here and after such a big weekend we are chilling and having a quiet day at home! Plan on getting some movies out tomorrow for Cheap Tuesday as they say WED will be HOT HOT HOT so we are going to sit indoors and have ourselves a bit of a movie marathon! Wed and Fri Ken and I are off to the gym after he finishes work and Jordie & Nic are taking a kids fitness class whilst we workout! Just wanted to pop by and post a layout that I did ages ago and forgot to post once it went up on the Discover blogspot! This lo I did for the Sept Blog Sketch Challenge! I am not overly happy with it as it is a bit busy but... will share it anyways. I haven't done much scrapping lately but hope to get over to Discover this week for their crop night! Have a great week everyone. xo S

Dream LO Freestyle Scrappies DT Submission

This is my second lo for Scrappies for the month of September. This is a freestyle submission on Ken and me from a fun photo that Douglas snapped at that same park in Dalby. Thanks for pushing me Caz, Julz and Jacqueline to get out in front of the camera for a change! Thanks for stopping by girls. We are off into the city tomorrow night but as I still don't have my new camera probably won't have too many pics if any at all. They have a big festival happening in Brisbane this month and tomorrow night starts it all off with RIVERFIRE, a huge fireworks display over the river, city, Kangaroo Point and Storey Bridge. They also have F11's buzz the skies to open up the start of the fireworks which last 25 mins and again at the end they do their amazing dump and burn to light up the night skies. This is the last year for the dump & burn so I am a bit disappointed to know I won't get any pics but.... such is life! Have a great weekend everyone! Happy Scrappin. xo S

Scrappies DT LO'S September

Well what a busy week it has been... don't know where the time goes somedays. On Tuesday for the first time ever in my life I managed to get locked out of the house. One of the cherubs pulled the door closed just as I realised I had left the keys on the entertainment unit on my way out. So I got an extra long walk that day as I had to walk on down to the real estate to pick up the spare set of keys! So all in all I walked 9 klms! Felt pretty good but. During the week I did managed to get my two lo's done for Scrappies Scrapbooking Supplies for September. We also did an OTP Challenge this month. We were given a Kaiser LOVE album to decorate. As our theme was FATHER'S I did mine as a gift for Ken on FD which was last Sunday. I will upload some pics of it later on. But in the mean time here is my lo based on the Fathers theme. This is Douglas with Ken at the park in Dalby when we had our big day out in Chincilla last month.

Two More Layouts

This above layout is one of my faves of the night. My gorgeous SIL Margie with Douglas, Jordan and Nicayla when Margie came up to visit us in Moura for Ken's 40th bday back in Feb this year. You just have to love the beautiful soft colours in this kaiser range. I was really happy with how this lo turned out.

This one is just a simple lo from when Nicayla was at Australia Zoo back in Sept 08. I just had some scraps of pink pp that I wanted to use and well black goes so nice with pink! Thanks for stopping by ladies. Hope everyone is having loads of fun getting crafty and HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!! hugs xo S

More Crop Night LO's

Hi Everyone

I really have been slack with my blogging again. I managed to get a total of four layouts done last Friday night at scrapbooking and I was going to come back much earlier to post some more but never got here! I haven't made any cards in ages so maybe next crop night I might make some cards for something different. Has been an interesting week but no exciting new news to share - OH!! Hope you all enjoy these los. This first of these layouts is a scraplift from Tracey who is designing for Arnolds Scrapbooks at Rothwell. I saw her lovely lo instore and at the end of the night I thought what a cute little lo to scraplift... so I did! Thanks for sharing your wicked talents Tracey! It is such a lovely lo.

Ti Amo

I was lucky enough last night to go to Arnolds very first ever crop night. We had a lovely evening, lots of laughs, great company and pizza, cake and bikkies to be enjoyed by all. I was lucky enough to get three single lo's completed and a fourth that was a scraplift from one of their talented Design Team members Tracey. So stay tuned for lots of new stuff to be uploaded over the next few days. Been a quiet afternoon... had a great chat over the net to the lovely KRIS... great catching up girl and love those two lo's on your blog and then hoped to get a 5th lo done using the left over My Minds Eye papers from the scraplifted lo but it wasn't meant to be. Nicayla is having a sleepover tonight so Ken is now watching a boys movie with Douglas and Jordie and I am doing some catch up work on the computer. So hope for some good weather tomorrow and if Ken doesn't get called into work like today well we will go to the markets in the morning, pick up Nicayla from here sleepover and then maybe take the kids over to Bribie Is again for a swim and play at the beach and maybe a bbq too!

This is one of my favourite photo's of recent times. Jordie spent $15 of his own money at a local market to buy Nicayla a pretty blown glass ring for her birthday. I ended up giving him $10 back as it was alot just for a ring but he really wanted her to have it as it was soo pretty and he thought she would love it!! Well he was right and this was her reaction when she unwrapped it and realise what he had given her. I just love the look on her face. Only wish I could have been in two places at one so I could have captured the look on Jordie's face too. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog girls. Have the bestest weekend ever. Hugs xo S

Now for Scrappies.....

Good Morning Ladies

I am spending the day at home organising my craft desk and getting some lo's ready to take out tonight for my first crop night at Arnolds Scrapbook & Craft Supplies at Rothwell. It is their very first ever crop night too! How exciting hey? The night includes pizza so a yummy treat. I so want a chocolate bar right now... but I was good. I drove the kids to school this morning and kept on driving right past all the shops that sell chocolate! lols. But since I hope to get some more lo's done tonight I thought best get on here and post the last of my completed layouts!
These were my submissions for Scrappies Scrapbooking Supplies for this month.
This DLO "Fun in the Sun" is my themed lo. Our theme this month was WINTER! lols I felt funny doing a lo on having fun at the beach but for us it was a winter time treat. It is warm enough here to go to the beach almost all year round. You can't swim it is too cold for that but you can still do lots of fun things!
The second lo is my freestyle submission and is titled Curly... it all but explains itself. The day Nicayla conned us into buying fancy smancy curling wand for her! The hairdresser curled her hair as a demo to the ppl gathered around - it is very easy to use! One day Mum hope to be almost as good as that hairdresser One Day! Hope everyone has a great Friday and a fabulous weekend.

Thanks for stopping by everyone and HAPPY HAPPY FRIDAY! Hope you all get some time to get scrappy! xo S

Best Friends

Finally here is the last DT lo I did for Robyn at Discover for July. This one is of me and my good friend from Moura, Dannie. Photo was taken at our farewell dinner. I just love the simplicity of this one along with the clean clear straight lines!

Not much planned for today. I have some grocery shopping to do and some prices to get for our long overdue insurance claim and then I am hoping to get a card made later in the day for a challenge.

Hope everyone has a great day. xo S

Koala LO

This is another lo I did for Discover last month. Not so sure about this one... some aspects I like and some not so much so! I did struggle with this one a bit. Love the flowers but and the piccie. Picture was taken at Australia Zoo when we were down in Sept last year. Thanks for looking girls! xo S

The First Discover LO.....

Well ladies here it is the first of the layouts I did for Robyn at Discover..... this one was a bit of a challenge. Here is my gorgeous DS Jordan hamming it up for the camera at our farewell dinner in Moura back in April this year. I was quite happy with how this DLO turned out. As Robyn teaches these lo's as classes in her shop we are asked not to use embellishments other than what is provided or what Robyn has in stock in the shop. This is the first lo I completed for Discover. TFL. xo S

Slacko Me

Hey Everyone

So sorry I haven't been blogging the last couple of weeks. Real life kinda over took me there for a while plus I haven't had alot of time to scrap or make cards. Just thought I best get back in here and get some new stuff posted. Firstly this is a lo that I got done last Friday night at the Discover Crop. Most of the girls were there from 9am as Robyn held an all day/night crop. I could go during the day as my DH Ken had his V8 hotlaps at long last but managed to get back in time for the night crop lols. We both have a great time - Ken during the day and me at night. I was feeling a bit tired so I ended up using one of the new kaiser sketches and this is my take on the sketch. Thanks for stopping by gals and I will try and post more regularly. Will have some new lo's for Discover DT and Scrappies DT up real soon. Have a great night mwah XO S

Well I just logged onto SCRAPS OF US to see what was happening over there to find out that the gorgeous Vicki had posted winners from the Winter Wonderland Cyber Crop that she held on the weekend. I won prizes for the cards I made as well as a lo and photo comp entry. Now I have to say that Vicki was so generous she is sending us all a little prize for the photo comp as she couldn't choose and has selected more than one winner for the challenges too. So very kind Vicki. It was like getting a RAK in the post... lovely surprise that has made my day! Thanks so very much girl. It was such a friendly well organised crop. Can't wait for the next one! Hugs xo

This is the last DLO I completed for the crop on the weekend. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday. Not much happening here - no time for crafty stuff this week {which is ok coz I got so much done on the weekend!!} real life is taking front seat. I have a heap of birthday's and anniveraries to send out this month but. Along with a special card for my friend the lovely Julz who has a bday coming up real soon! Thanks for stopping by.... bye for now. xo Shirl

More Crop Layouts!

Here are some more layouts from my crops this weekend! Hope you enjoy them as much as I have had making them. Still working on one more DLO that is due tonight so check back later - maybe tomorrow- for a look at that one! Have a great week girls and happy scrapping!
This layout is my neice Trish with my DD Nicayla. Photo taken at Jordie's birthday back in June. I did this lo for the Scraps of Us Winter Wonderland Crop which has been on over this weekend. This is Carly's Pattern Papper Challenge. Using scraps of pp's only to make up the lo. I had these old kaiser pp's that I thought would go well with the photo! I tried to meet the extra credit criteria too buy only adding paper embellies but I just had to have ONE real life glitzy flower!!

This DLO I did for the Scrappies Cyber Crop 4 which was held on Saturday night. Challenge 3 was to be a lo of an animal but as I was a bit over doing animal lo's I did these old photo's of Douglas, Ken and I went D was a baby back in 1997. He had this toy cat that went nearly everywhere with him... named Garfield. D just adored him and had to have him in the photo shoot or he just wouldn't smile! lols. Thanks for looking everyone! xo S

Scrappies Cyber Crop 4

Here are a couple of the layouts I got done last night at our 4th Cyber Crop at Scrappies Scrapbooking Supplies. We had 5 great challenges posted and I had so much fun doing these two layouts. Thank goodness that my card night on Friday got my mojo flowing again! Here is Challenge 1 girls........ a Becky Fleck sketch. I just love Becky's sketches.

Our next challenge was an ALPHABET title challenge. Julz picked the letter "N" so we had to come up with a layout that had a title starting with "N"...... my gorgeous and very cheeky great neice Kaity made the perfect subject for this layout!

Have a great start to the week everyone and HAPPY SCRAPPING!! xo S

Lucky Last One..... opps

Sorry girls - missed one. Here is the sixth card from last night. I have left the bottom of the card blank so I can add a greeting when I am ready to use it. Will put it in the blue section cutting out with some nesties to give it a bit of style! Thanks so much for stopping by! xo S

Crop Night Cards

Sorry I have been so quiet of late. Sick family the past few weeks and we have also been very busy when well enough. Had a trip out to Chinchilla on Wednesday with the family. Lovely day for a drive in the country and got some cool not to mention cute snaps of the kids too at Dalby and Toowoomba on the way home! Other than this... not much happening in the way of mojo for Shirl!! I have several Discover DT lo's on the go but no mojo til last night to finish them off.

Well couldn't find anything to appease me at crop night so I decided to make some cards instead. I managed to get six cards made. Some with stamped images and some with the cuttlebug. I was more than happy with them so found a bit of my mojo seemed to have returned before the end of the night.

This is great news as I have my online crop with Scrappies on tonight so, so need that mojo! Well hope you enjoy and have a great weekend everyone. Happy scrapping!!

Mt Cootha

Instead of a lazy Sunday today we all headed out the door for Ken to do his V8 hotlaps at long last. Well so we thought. Apparently they gave us the wrong date! We were supposed to be at the track yesterday. Poor Ken he was so disappointed. He had even rung about 10 days ago to confirm the date etc as they didn't email us like they said they would! So instead of coming straight home we decided to head up to Mt Cootha to check out the views of Brisbane and have a picnic lunch. Here are a few snap shots of the day! Hope everyone has had a great weekend. Hugs xo S

My very talented DD, Nicayla has been at it again and has created another scrapbooking lo and I wanted to share it with you all! This time she chose to do a lo on our furbaby Tom who we lost last year. She is gettting better and better with every lo isn't she? Yes I am openly biased! lols.
