UYS Challenge #203 - It's Christmas Time

Hello Everyone

Today I'd like to share with you my last challenge for the year over at Use Your Stuff.  As it is "that" wonderful time of the year again.  I wanted my last challenge for 2015 to reflect the season but I always wanted it to be a simple challenge as everyone gets so crazy busy in the weeks leading up to the holidays.

So my challenge this time is create anything with a Christmas theme.  It could be a card, a layout or even an Off The Page project like the one I have made.

I saw an Angel like this one on the web a few months ago and decided it could be hard to make.  So using two different doiles (one store brought and the other from Cheery Lynn Designs) I created this little angel.  I used Inks from Stampin' Up to colour up her layers on her dress and then added Kindy Glitz and bling.  I choose a Magnolia image to colour and there you have it! Easy peasy.

Can't wait to see what you all create. Make sure you head over to the UYS blog linked above to see what other gorgeous creations the other DT's have come up with for my challenge.  And don't forget to add a link there to your creation as well.

Merry Christmas and happy crafting!

UYS CHallenge #201 Lots of Layers

Good Morning Everyone

Just stopping by to share a layout I created for Use Your Stuff.  This photo was taken at a friends wedding in March last year.  It is my gorgeous daughter with one of her brothers best mates from soccer.  I have been keeping it for just the right layout and I think this is it.  I loved Lori's challenge as it gave me another reason to use up some of my off cuts that I have been hoarding.  Too pretty to just toss in the bin.  I love how the how layout came together.  Please make sure you all pop over to the UYS blog to check out what the other talented ladies have created to inspire you this week.  And don't forget to link up your challenge entry at the bottom of the blog post!

Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to see what you create for this challenge.

UYS Challenge #200 "Celebrate" & Blog Hop

Welcome everyone to our 200th Challenge!

We are so honored that so many of you have followed and played along with us as we give you challenges to help inspire your creativity and we get so excited to see your projects every week!

For our challenge we are using the theme CELEBRATE~!

You can celebrate a special person, a milestone, a holiday or event! However the theme relates to you!

To help us CELEBRATE we are very excited to have Kim Evans the owner of Emerald Creek Crafts sponsor our Blog Hop and she has graciously offered a prize to one lucky winner.

Emerald Creek Craft Supplies is synonymous with Kim Evans. The Emerald Creek was named for my passions, my best friend and husband Duncan who I have known and loved for 21 years, and my west coast passion for nature and the out doors. In the last 3 years I added the rubber stamp manufacturing division to my company with the intent to move from construction to crafting. This past year I felt it was time to launch out with the company. The reception from everyone has been wonderful. I believe in being happy and crafting makes me happy. I believe nothing should collect dust and love coming up with many new looks for each of my craft products. I also believe that everyone has more creativity within them that they can discover and I love seeing the joy when they create something new and outside of their comfort. So we come to you as Emerald Creek Craft Supplies: Helping you unlock your creative potential!

You can find the store here and Emerald Creek also has their own great blog with lots of DARES so be sure to drop by and see what they have to get your creativity flowing!

In order to win this great prize,

you have to leave a comment on each DT member's blog/gallery. The lucky winner will be picked from one of the blogs but we're not telling you which one!  Feel free to drop by Emerald Creek's FB page as well to say hi!

The hop goes from Monday November 16th until Saturday November 21st and the lucky winner will be announced on the 22nd!

Don't forget, this is also a challenge, so we really want to see what you are celebrating and be sure to link up below.

Here is a list of the DT blogs to follow along with:

And here is a little card I created to help "Celebrate" many occasions.

I hope you like it and please be sure to hop on over to Tammy's blog to check out her fabulous creation.  And don't forget to leave all the lovely ladies some love!  Esp as there is a great prize to be won, but to be eligible you have to leave lots of love everywhere.  Good luck :)

Paper Craft Addicts November Card Challenge

Good Morning Everyone

Today I have a card that I made for a challenge on a facebook group called Paper Craft Addicts (please note it is a closed group so you do have to ask to join).  The challenge I set for this months was for everyone to create a card background!  The card below was created using mainly Stampin' Up products.  I really love how it turned out.  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day.

UYS - Challenge #198

Morning Everyone

Time to share another DT layout that I created for Use Your Stuff. This weeks challenge was a simple one for a great deal of us, to use up some of our "old" stash!  And let's admit it who doesn't have plenty of "old" stash to create with?  I know I do!  So I choose to create a layout this week highlighting a photo of my gorgeous siamese cat "Simba".

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you find some inspiration in my layout and please don't forget to head on over to Use Your Stuff to check out all the awesome layouts & cards created by my very talented fellow DT members.

Happy Crafting

Challenge #196 Thankful - Use Your Stuff

Morning All

Looks like someone forgot to set her latest challenge up on auto post!  So without further adieu here is my layout for the lovely Tammy's challenge over at Use Your Stuff.  As UYS is based overseas I assumed being "thankful" was to have something to do with the upcoming Thanksgiving.  So I decided to think about what I am thankful about at this time of year.  I often sit in my craft room and gaze out the window at my pretty flower beds and blooms.  So I decided to go with a theme of flowers/butterflies.  This is my card :

Bright happy flowers and a cute little butterfly.  And the sentiment says it all "Oh Happy Day!"

Have a great day and happy crafting!

Layout A Day

Morning Everyone

I have been trying to slowly catch up on some of the many photos I want to scrapbook "one day".  So I thought I would share a few of my recent ones.

First this is a photo from back in November 2014 (I think).  The Color Me Rad 5klm.  It was so much fun! If you haven't done one of the colour runs then you have to...

Next is a photo from May 2014 when we all did the Mother Day Classic and had lots of fun rocking "pretty in pink"!  Ken, Nic & I walked the 5 klms course but Jordan and a couple of his mates ran the 8 or 10 klms (already forgetting) but I do remember he came second in his age group! Go Jordie :)

Then we have a photo of the four of us attending a friends wedding in March last year.  This was taken in our front yard as we left by my eldest Doug who didn't attend.  Gosh my kids are gorgeous - feeling blessed.

And last but not least for today a more recent photo.  This one was taken only a few weeks ago when Ken, Reneena, Kelly & I did the Color Me Rad 5klm  in Brisbane!

Thanks for stopping in - happy crafting

UYS Challenge #194 - Sketch

Good Morning Everyone

I am back this time with my latest creation for Use Your Stuff.  For this weeks challenge I sent a relatively simple task... create a card or layout (or whatever else you like really) using the sketch below.  I stumbled across it on the net and loved the simplicity of it's design.

Originally I had every intention of creating a card for my example but this photo and papers jumped out at me and before I knew it I was creating a layout instead.   This is my hubby and one of my closest friends when they came to visit us back in 2013.  I love the silliness of the photo almost as much as I love the two people in it!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to hop on over to the UYS Blog and join in the fun.  Don't forget to link in your creation at the bottom of my post!

Have fun & Happy Crafting.

Challenge #192 - Fall theme

Hello Everyone

Yes it is slack ole me back again.  I so honestly keep trying to stay on top of my blog but I sadly keep neglecting it!  As You Your Stuff has been on summer break it seems so have I.  I have actually made a heap of Christmas Cards and I have even done a workshop... I will come back and share some of this later.

For now I want you all to head over to the Use Your Stuff blog and check out the current challenge set by our very talented Lori - Fall Themed works of art.  You will see some stunning examples of cards and layouts using fall colours such as orange, yellow, brown or red as well as the use of the theme itself "fall".

As we don't have a "fall" here in Australia I choose to work with yellow and orange (with some black backing) for my card.  I have made an easel card using a magnolia stamp to gift to a very special friend.  I think she will love the colours too.  I also got some inspiration from looking out my craft room window at my euphorbia "sticks on fire" tree.

Hope you like my example as much as I do.  Please don't forget to link up your challenge entries via the link at the bottom of the post.

Happy Crafting

Christmas Cards

Yes it is me again.  Long time no see and my apologies.  Despite my best intentions this blog always seems to get the best of me and I keep forgetting to update it!

I have been on break with the rest of my fellow DT @ Use Your Stuff and as a result of this have totally forgotten about putting up any of the cards I have made of late.

I challenge myself everywhere of late to get my Christmas Cards done early and have they all written out, addressed ready to go come 1st December.  Well this year I have outdone myself!  I have all my cards made, written out, addressed up and ready sitting waiting for stamps.  There will no doubt be a few I have forgotten or not thought about but I can live with that.

Here are some of the simple cards  I have made this year :

Thanks for stopping by.  Til next time.

UYS Challenge #186 - Dots & Stripes

Good Morning Everyone

Well today I want to share with you all my latest creation for Use Your Stuff.  Please be sure to head over to their blog as well to check out all the inspirational creations by not only my fellow DT members but also the many entries submitted by our wonderful followers too.

This week our theme was Dots and Stripes.  I decided to use my "dots" embossing folder on my background cardstock and then complete the card us some funky yellow stripped paper from Stampin' Up (hope I am remembering correctly).  I used my new SU Blended Bloom stamp to finish of my card and coloured it using my copic ciao markers!  And to finish it all off I used me Wink Of Stella pens to add some spunky sparkle!

Not my normal go to colours but I love the orange and yellow together and they are reminding me of the lovely autumn weather we are enjoying now.

Close up of my sparkly flower (my Wink Of Stella pen went a little OTT!)

Thanks for looking friends.  Happy Crafting :)

Blended Bloom Cards

Evening Friends

Well I have been so busy of late, as usual, my poor blog has suffered!  So I wanted to come back tonight to share with you some of the cards I have made this week.  I have wanted to get the Stampin' Up "Blended Blooms" single flower stamp for quite a while now.  So when I went to my lovely friend Beck's recent SU Workshop I decided to order it at long last.  It arrived in record time and I just had to stamp it out and play with it!

These cards are the end result.  They are all simple but I am very happy with how they have turned out none the less and I loved colouring them in with my copic ciao markers too.  So thank you Stampin' Up for the relaxing craft time I got in this past week.

Thanks for stopping in and saying "HI".  Have a great day or night and as always happy crafting.

UYS Challenges #182 & #184

Hello Everyone

Shirl has been a bad, bad girl! It seems I have totally forgotten to post my last couple of creations for Use Your Stuff.  So without further adieu I thought I'd best get to it and share them all with you right here, right now!

Challenge #184 - Chevrons

For this challenge I was determined to get a start on my Christmas Cards for 2015! So that is exactly what I did and here is my simple card.  Number #1 for the year. I have since gone on to make another 12 simple tilda christmas cards! Yay go me!

Challenge #182 - Embossing

So here is my card I created for the embossing challenge.  I decided to use an embossing folder and my gelatos.  I wasn't terribly happy with the outcome once I photographed it but as the photo really goes it no justice at all.  The colours look so lack lustre.  But here it is :

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I will be back soon with another post or two or three.  Happy Crafting.

UYS Challenge #180 - Anything Goes!

Good Afternoon Everyone

OMG I so can't believe that I forgot to post my layout for this wonderful challenge... I forgot to post it on the Use Your Stuff blog to start with and now here too.  I must I must I must simply remember next time.

Please make sure you hop on over to the UYS blog and check out all the other fantastic creations for the wonderful ladies.  I am always inspired after visiting this blog!

For my "Anything Goes" challenge I found myself looking once again at school photos.  In particular my DD's Year 7 Graduation photos.  I always struggle trying to match the horrid colours of their uniforms so this time I decided to ignore the yuckky green & gold and focus on totally different colours.  I am really happy with how it turned out.  A double layout to celebrate a very special day.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  Hope you have a great day.

Use Your Stuff #178 Stickers

Good Morning Everyone

Today I have a card to share that I created for our "Stickers" Challenge over at Use Your Stuff.  Make sure you head over to the blog and check out the awesome work of my fellow DT members.  There are some gorgeous examples of how to use stickers on both cards and layouts and some incredible challenge entries up already to inspire us all.

On my card I choose to use some small scrabble tile alpha stickers to spell out the word smile. Stickers come in so many shapes and sizes, styles and colour combinations that they have become so versatile.  What's not to love about stickers?

Thanks for stopping by my blog and happy scrapping to you all.

UYS Challenge #176 Make It Monochromatic

Good Monday Morning to you all

Well this morning I am delighted to share with you all my very first challenge over at Use Your Stuff.  For my challenge this week I decided I would like to do something monochromatic.  I did an all white layout may years ago but haven't really done anything since.  For many weeks I was going to do another all white creation but in the end my love of all things purple won out!  So I created this card using shades of purple with white.

Please make sure you head over to the blog to check out the other stunning creations from my fellow Design Team mates and if you have some time join in the fun.  Create something monochromatic, anything at all, a card, a layout, altered art, ATC, canvas your imagination is the only limitation and share it with us using the link at the bottom of my post.

Happy crafting

You Are My Shining Star Layout

Good Afternoon

Here is a layout I have been working on this week.  Now I have to say this is a "scrap lift" from a layout I came across recently and fell in love with.  I am so far behind as far as being a washi tape fan.  I have never really gotten into washi tape until recently and now I am catching up.

I have to go and try and find the creator of this layout so I can give her some well earned credit.  I saved her layout and her name on my laptop the other day but now I go to find it... poof! vanished ... gone!!

This is my handsome middle son, Jordan.  The photos date back to December 2013 when we were invited to attend a Gala Christmas Dinner for the charity Lighthouse Care.  We have all at some stage in the past year and a half volunteered on many a Friday to help deliver food hampers in our local community at a discounted cost for families in need.

It was lovely to get invited and see what Lighthouse do on these special nights.

Thanks for stopping by my page.... hope you found some inspiration.

Have a great weekend of crafting.

Paper Craft Addicts March Card Challenge - Washi Tape

Good Evening

Well for a change I am getting in early as the lovely Ellen has posted my March challenge up on the FB group page for Paper Craft Addicts.  This March for my card challenge I have been getting messy with my washi tape.  Yes I am so late to the washi tape madness, I know.  But that is me, always late to the party!  Still not the biggest fan of washi tape but I do love the simplicity of these two cards that I am sharing today.

If you want to join in the fun make sure you pop into Paper Craft Addicts and post us a photo of your challenge entry.

Thanks for dropping by.  Hope to see you joining in the fun at Paper Craft Addicts real soon.  In the meantime .....

Happy Crafting!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy HAPPY Valentines Day... late yes of course I am.

I can't hardly believe how super busy I seem to have been these past couple of weeks. Between dance rehearsals, dance troop for my DD and soccer sign on, training, last few weeks of futsal summer comp, trial soccer games for the upcoming season, helping out with soccer sign on days, after school training for my middle DS, getting the eldest DS to and from work (we've had a lot of wet weather of late), DH being away for a few days with work (getting him to the airport, picking him up from the train) and my own life I have totally lost track of the WHOLE month of February I think! Whilst it has been super busy I have had some craft time and some great social outings as well so I am overall very blessed.

Whilst I haven't had much time to explore all the wonderful things my new Brother Scan and Cut can do I am loving how it is making life so easy when it comes to projects that need lots of hearts (like my last post below) or lots of hexagonals like my latest DT share which I can show you in a few days...

But today I wanted to share with you another heartfelt creation that I made for both my son (to give to his gf) and for my DH for Valentines Day. I made two cards both the same and two bouquests of edible flowers. My Scan and Cut got a workout cutting out flowers and hearts. I am so blessed to have gotten it as an early birthday pressie :)

Here are the two cards I made :

And the gift baskets to go with :

Please excuse the bad photography today. It was late by the time I got these projects finished and I had no choice but to take the photos in bad late afternoon light before hiding them away.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to call back soon for some more inspiration from the amazing Use Your Scraps DT

See you all soon and happy creating.

Happy New Year!!

Hello Everyone

Well it seemed at some stage last year life over took me and I simply didn't get back to blogging.... I had no idea honestly it had been almost 10 months but since my last poor effort. Well welcome 2015, a new year, a new start. I am going to try really hard this year to post all my creations to my blog before I post them anywhere else! PS I have already failed this as I totally forgot all about my blog when I posted some cards and layouts to facebook last week!

Happy New Year everyone... here are two basic layouts I created last week to highlight some wonderful photos I captured on my eldest DS 18th birthday. Where does the time go??

Plus some cards I made with some new Stampin' Up stamps.

Til next time.
